Crowder-Drury Solar Decathlon Fundraising

Crowder College and Drury University have partnered to design, construct and market a solar powered and storm resistant home for the 2015 Solar Decathlon competition. While all teams will be building environmentally friendly homes, our structure is disaster resilient. Located in Missouri, a state that experiences an average of 27 tornadoes per year, we have seen first-hand the devastation a storm can create.

Respond. Recover. Resist. That’s ShelteR3. Our project has two key audiences. First are the disaster responders who establish operations centers in areas affected by natural disasters. Our structure will allow officials to respond during the moment of crisis and carry out recovery efforts. Once a community is back on its feet, our ShelteRstructures can be used to provide comfortable, energy efficient, and storm resistant housing. Our second audience is home buyers who aspire to minimize their footprint and live in style while protecting themselves from violent storms.

With your help, our team can obtain the materials needed to construct our home and compete in the 2015 Solar Decathlon in Irvine, California. Our student decathletes and faculty mentors appreciate your support!

About the Solar Decathlon
