Klova (Swan) Campbell M.Ed. '74

You often do not know the impact someone has on the world until they are gone.  Klova Campbell made an impression on her family and her peers by always supporting them and being passionate about everything she did. She graduated from Drury in 1974 with her Master of Education specializing in special education.

Klova was active at Central High School from which she graduated. She attended Missouri State University to major in education. While there, she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. After graduating, she started teaching at Niangua and then at Willard. During this time, she also started at Drury for an advanced degree in special education.

Before she met her second husband, James, Klova was a single mom of two sons as well as a teacher. James understood the difficulty of her situation. After her death in 2009, he set up a scholarship at Drury in her honor with the help of Klova’s son, Dr. Davis (Bill), Drury class of ’94. This scholarship is for single moms going into the special education field because James and Bill understand the challenges of single parenting and want to help them.
